Deadline for filing 2020 VAT refund is coming up.

VAT payers who purchased services or goods with a place of supply in other member states, typically comprising costs of taxi, public transport, accommodation, gas, training or trade fair costs, who want to claim a VAT refund should do so as soon as possible.

The latest possible deadline for filing a 2020 VAT refund request is 30 September 2021. After this period elapses, the VAT refund right ceases to exist.

2020 VAT refund request can only be filed digitally, using the EPO or MyTaxes („MojeDaně“) portals. If a VAT payer files a VAT refund request for the first time, they have to first request their tax authority to arrange access to an application managing EU-wide VAT refunds. The tax authority has 15 days to arrange such access, but typically reacts very quickly to a request and arranges access within just a couple of days.

We will be happy to provide you with further details as to conditions under which you can claim VAT from other EU member states, or we can process the relevant request for you based on a power of attorney. Do not hesitate to contact us in this matter.
